President Message

Dear ATMA members

I thank everyone for giving me an opportunity to serve as the President of ATMA- American Tamil Medical Association. I am very honored and privileged to serve in this role.

As I take this great responsibility during the ongoing pandemic, I wish to work with everyone as a team to enhance the role of ATMA in providing medical needs to our community in Tamilnadu as well as locally.

In the last 15 years ATMA has been involved in many projects that have benefitted several thousands, including multiple projects during the COVID pandemic. We will continue to do so as needed.

At this time, my goal would be to

  • strengthen the organization further
  • increase the presence and activity of younger members in ATMA, as they would be our future leaders
  • Improve the social media interaction, which the younger generation desires
  • Encourage more volunteer participation
  • interact and collaborate with other organizations with similar interests
  • Enhance participation of members of ATMA in various activities and  committees
  • Increase the fund-raising opportunities to provide funding for more charitable projects
  • Obtain FCRA [Foreign Contribution Regulation Act] status for ATMA India
  • And last but not the least—Conduct a physical – live- convention in 2023 with maximum participation of members to have a good interaction and exchange of ideas

In the coming months, we have some challenges that we have to face. However, I have the confidence that due the resilience, maturity, patience and selfless contributions made by our members, we should be able to overcome any challenge.

I encourage everyone to get actively involved in various committees and contribute whatever possible. Together, we can achieve anything.

Thank you

Ashok Kumar, MD
