Florida Chapter of ATMA was formed during the initial formation of ATMA in 2005. Dr.Chockalingam from Sebring, FL., was the President in 2007, who held a convention in Las Vegas, at the Cesar’s Palace. Dr. Durairaj from Davie has been the Chapter Governor in 2009.
In 2018, Dr.Ashok Kumar became the Chapter governor of Florida. ATMA Florida chapter meeting was held in March 2018. It was well attended by about 40 people. An introduction of organization of ATMA was followed by discussion about various ATMA projects, which was done by the former president and founding member, Dr. Jay Gopal. President Dr. Deeptha Nedunchezhian discussed the current status and the future of ATMA. Several senior members including Dr.Nedunchezhian, Dr.Rammohan and Dr.Palaniswamy addressed the group. Many new members also participated in the discussions that followed.
Our next Florida Chapter meeting was held at ‘The Ruchi Restaurant’, in March 2019 to discuss about the Chapter activities for the next year and ATMA convention.
In August 2019, several Florida Chapter ATMA members attended the ATMA CONVENTION at The Bally’s resort in Atlantic City, NJ. At this convention, Dr. Ashok Kumar was installed as President-Elect of ATMA.
In 10/2019, ATMA had a chapter meeting involving the members from the greater TAMPA community to discuss the future of ATMA and upcoming programs.
In 3/2020, ATMA participated in a virtual conference/panel discussion organized along with South Florida Tamil Sangam and Association for Natural Products Research to discuss about the Covid 19. Several ATMA members participated in the educational discussion which benefitted the local Tamil community
